Hey there, fellow homesteaders and off-grid enthusiasts! Today, I'm giving you a bit more of a look into sourdough! Continue reading to also be able to purchase one of my live sourdough starters and the story behind it. 

Picture this: a novice baker, armed with flour-dusted hands and a heart full of determination, embarking on the age-old tradition of sourdough bread-making. The journey begins not with a recipe, but with a bubbling concoction known as the starter.  Yes! It's really alive!

As someone who once stood in your flour-covered shoes, unsure of where to start, I vividly recall the thrill and trepidation of cultivating my first sourdough starter. The daily feedings, the tiny bubbles of life, and the unmistakable tang of fermentation – it's a magical process that connects us to our culinary roots in a profound way.  Also - the disappointment when I didn't quite get it right.

And guess what? For those who aren't quite ready to make their own sourdough starter, I have a live, active sourdough starter ready to be your baking companion!  Whether you're a seasoned sourdough aficionado or a curious beginner, this starter is bursting with flavor potential and eager to join your kitchen adventures. 

I will have detailed instructions on how to make your own sourdough starter soon. For now, if you'd like my live active starter: Emilie, send me an email to make sure she's available (can be found in the right column of my blog). She costs $15 + $10 for shipping. She is NOT dehydrated but is a live starter that comes in a jar. She WILL be hungry when she gets to you. Instructions are provided with each purchase. Payment is accepted via Cash App once we have made arrangements. Please be sure to include your full name and mailing address in the Cash App note section with payment. Cash App details are also located in my blog's right column. Currently available to those living in the US only. I ship on Mondays so that you have your starter on or before the weekend.

The story behind Emilie: I created Emilie from scratch just a bit over 5 years ago to commemorate the birth of my granddaughter (she turned 5 in March). Help me let her travel around the US.
